A Trip to Martha's Vineyard : Celebrating Our 10th Wedding Anniversary | Day 4

Our fourth day on the island was even more overcast and dreary than the day before… We were hoping to have another day of sun so we could lounge by the pool at our B&B, but the rain gave us an opportunity to keep driving around and exploring the island.

It hadn’t begun to rain at breakfast yet, so luckily we were still able to enjoy that by the pool. It was the most delicious popover filled with a fried egg and a fresh tomato (from the garden of course), and some yogurt, homemade granola, and fresh fruit on the side. It was absolutely delightful… By this time, we were completely spoiled. I’d never had a popover before and loved the soft, billowy texture and light and airy, flaky dough. It was like having a savory dessert… It was just perfection, but we wouldn’t expect any less from Charles at this point! :)

The rain started as we left the place to start our day of exploration… We decided to head southeast to Edgartown, where we walked around the shops and picked up a few more goodies to bring back home with us, and watched the boats for a bit under our umbrella. It’s hard to tell but the rain was really coming down… Then, around lunchtime, we headed to Oak Bluffs to get something to eat and explore that little town a bit. The wind was fierce and it was chilly! We had to buy a couple sweatshirts to stay warm because we hadn’t anticipated the temps to get that low. But it was fun, and we still enjoyed ourselves even though the conditions weren’t necessarily ideal…

Below is a screen shot of the storm that was over us… It lasted the entire day. We got tired of being out in the rain, so we decided to get a pizza and head back to our place to lounge around, watch a movie, and chill. Plus, we were tired from the hike the day before anyway, and the little micro-muscles of our feet were sore from walking down the beach on the stones and pebbles.

So we stopped by a liquor store for a couple bottles of wine then we ordered some pizza from Porto’s, right down in Vineyard Haven, who had 5 slices left, and we said we’ll take all five! It was the most amazing pizza… I swear it was the most delicious pizza I’ve ever had in my life. It’s the kind of pizza I crave when I want a slice. Thinner crust, sort of NY style, light sauce, even layer of light cheese, and a little burned on top in the best way… with a sprinkle of dried oregano. Classic and freakin’ delicious… And a couple of sprites. We were really overdoing it for us… It was indeed a treat… We felt it later on but it was worth it big time… :)

The rain never let up… it was such a cozy evening laying around in bed eating pizza and snacks and watching Double Jeopardy… We fell asleep early to the sound of the rain as we mentally prepared for our very last day on the island. :)

Day 5, our final day, coming up next!
