John Brown General Store & Butchery Styled Shoot - Elopement Inspiration | Baltimore, Maryland Vendors

I always love anytime I’m able to spend with Laurie and Marlo of fab-ri-kāt, an up and coming wedding and event planning and styling company out of Baltimore. This mother-daughter duo have such an eye for style, color, texture, balance, and can see the overall picture, knowing exactly how to execute!

I’ve always popped into the John Brown’s General Store for a coffee on my way home from the Baltimore area but had never thought to photograph there. Their back room was perfect for the shoot! April from Floriculture Farm in south-central PA just north of the Maryland line has just the kind of style and vibe I love in a florist - whimsical, fun yet elegant, and lots of greenery. The tablescape literally took my breath away when I arrived… Plates and bowls were donated from Baltimore Clayworks, and accented with mustard cloth napkins. If you know me, you know a green and mustard color scheme makes me oh so happy!

What I loved most was the gorgeous cake from Harmony Bakery, a vegan sweet spot in Hampden with the most delicious bites… Lavender was donated from Belvedere Farm, accented on the sides of the delectable creamy icing.

Enjoy a few of my favorites and please give the vendors below a follow! They each worked hard to make this beautiful vision come to life! Huge thanks to Laurie and Marlo for having me to capture their vision in all of it’s beauty… I just love you two!

An excerpt from fab-ri-kāt as written in the article of our shoot featured on Baltimore Weddings:

“The inspiration behind this shoot was a small, sophisticated, elopement style wedding weekend. At [fab-ri-kāt], we are inspired by spaces and believe that beautiful architecture should speak for itself. John Brown General and Butchery does that wonderfully, it is a registered historic building from the 1930’s nestled in Baltimore’s “horse country.” The building immediately inspired French sophistication with its large fireplace, traditional stone work, and rustic farm table. We chose to show a sophisticated welcome reception following a rehearsal dinner for all of the couples that are choosing unique ways to celebrate their wedding weekends.

All of the elements are artisan or vintage to fit the historic rural space. The table-scape includes vintage mustard napkins acquired from an estate sale in Nashville, silverware from the 1950’s made by the Stieff Company, and hand thrown pottery table settings from Baltimore Clayworks. The cake is from Harmony Bakery with the lavender coming from Belvedere Farms.

The entire styled shoot is a representation of tying the past and present, woodlands and indoors, together into this historic building turned butcher shop.” – [fab-ri-kāt] team

Cook Christmas 2018 - Our Wonderfully Sweet Family Christmas Time

Tonight we celebrated our little family Christmas at home, where my parents worked so hard to prepare the most beautiful meal and warm holiday atmosphere for us all. This year felt a little extra special because dad was in the hospital several weeks ago, so we were all additionally grateful to all be together.

Every detail was so beautiful and intentional, from the gorgeous Williamsburg-inspired centerpiece to the lemons that held the cocktail sauce for our shrimp hors d'oeuvre.

Dad read an excerpt from an advent devotional book before our prayer, and we then enjoyed every single bite of the delicious dinner set before us… Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, hericot vert (those skinny deliciously crisp green beans) with almonds and crispy bacon, fresh homemade rosemary bread, and lingonberry jam. My goodness was it delectable…

We drew names for a little gift exchange, and mom and dad filled stockings for us, the ones our Nana made for us when we were babies, and we each enjoyed opening our gifts and spending time together..

Karlie had Tyler, he had Dad, Dad had Karlie… Mom had my name, and I had Jesse, who had Mom. :)

We each got ornaments from mom and dad - Tyler got a vacuum because he loves to so much lol, I got an adorable kitchen aid mixer, Karlie got a cute little cactus, and Jess received a nutcracker!

Thanks to Karlie who grabbed my camera to snag a few shots too! :)

Even Bax had his own stocking… And Dad is always joking with Karlie about General George Pickett being one of her great great great grandfathers so he framed his picture for her, lol!

We’re going to sleep feeling so blessed and thankful for one another! Now for another family gathering tomorrow, friends together at our house on Christmas Eve, and of course on Christmas Day too!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Brittany & Davis : Winter Maternity Session | Sewell's Tree Farm - Taneytown, Maryland

You may remember Brittany and Davis’s wedding from a few years back on Davis’s family farm… They’re welcoming a new little angel into their family this coming January and I couldn’t be more excited for them! Brittany looks absolutely amazing…

We met at Sewell’s Tree Farm, an adorable place where you can pick out a pre-cut tree or cut your own down! They also have a cute little gift shop to browse once you’ve gotten your tree. :) I got a little ornament when we were there.

Hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from their session!

First Day of Spring | SNOW DAY 2018

You've heard me say before that I love and appreciate each season for all of the beauty it offers. And I really do - I love where we live because we get to experience four distinct seasons of weather and everything they offer. But I have to admit, this winter has been pretty disappointing around here in the snowfall department, until the first day of spring. We were hit the hardest we've been all season and finally had our "snow day" where it felt right to kick back, relax, read a good book, make a big pot of chili, and enjoy watching out the window as it all piled up so beautiful around us. Every other snowfall (at least where we live) has hardly even amounted to an inch! So needless to say, we were anticipating this one. What's winter without a good snowfall?? I hope you enjoy a little documentary of our snowed-in couple of days! Aka pics of Baxter and me on our walk around the neighborhood...

Hope everyone had a safe and cozy snowy week this week!

A Cozy Family Day in Annapolis

Kelley and Dan eloped in Annapolis this passed summer, so we thought it would be special for them to have their family photos taken there too since the state capitol has a special meaning for them now... It was chilly but we bundled up and had such a fun time together! The William Paca House was the perfect spot to photograph because the brick walls, bushes, and trees helped to block the wind and it was such a fun place to walk around and explore!

After running through the mazes of the box woods, holly trees, and little archways, we decided to grab some Hot Chocolate and Chai Tea from the coffee shop around the corner called The Brown Mustache. What an adorable and whimsical spot to spend a cozy afternoon! I absolutely loved it there...

Sweet little Nora wanted to have some story time with her new daddy, whom she calls "Day" (so precious..) so we snuggled up in the cozy chair and read books until it was time to leave... Her mommy even surprised her with taking home one book that particularly caught her eye, Chicken Story Time.

I loved hanging out with this sweet little family for the afternoon... Perfect little outing to get ready for the cozy holiday!
