FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Weddings

How many weddings have you photographed?
About 300, give or take.

How many weddings do you typically shoot each year?
12 or so. This allows me to provide my couples with the dedication, attention, and creative energy they deserve, as well as maintain a healthy balance between work and home life.

What’s the booking process like?
After your initial inquiry, we’ll schedule a call to go over questions you have and how I like to approach photography in further detail. I love the openness of conversation and getting to know each other more! Once your contract is signed and retainer submitted, the first thing I’ll do is create your preliminary photography timeline based on your overall wedding day vision. This will be helpful as you continue to plan with your other vendors. Then we’ll collaborate on the creative vision for your engagement session! I love to work on the ideas for the shoot together. We usually schedule the session during whatever season and time that works best with the theme and feel you’re going for! Then about six weeks from the wedding day, we’ll schedule a final call to talk about what’s most important to you both on the wedding day in terms of values, important people and particularly poignant moments to capture, and review the final details.

Do you work with a second photographer on wedding days?
Yes! My amazing assistant Morgan simultaneously photographs alongside me. She’s immensely talented, kindhearted, and helpful!

Portraits

Do you offer sessions for families, seniors, corporate headshots, or mini sessions?

Not at this time. But offerings are always ebbing and flowing based on my creative inspiration and seasonal intentions.

Image Processing

Do you edit each photo yourself?
I do, yes.

What is the difference between editing and retouching?

Editing alters the raw image with broad enhancements like color and exposure correction, contrast adjustment, sharpening, and some basic spot removal. Retouching requires more in-depth alteration such as skin softening, blemish removal, removal or background elements, etc.

Do you retouch them too?
Yes. Options for retouching services are available for purchase in client gallery shops.

What’s your typical turnaround time for editing?
Galleries are usually delivered within 4-6 for weddings and 2-3 weeks for other types of creative work.

How many of my images will be in color vs. black and white?
I deliver a nicely balanced mix of both, and in most cases, the images delivered in black and white are also delivered in color as well.

What am I allowed to do with my images?
My business holds the copyright to all images we capture, but you are welcome to make prints and share them to social media as often as you’d like. You just can’t sell, edit, or alter them in any way.

Photo Books + Products

Do you sell albums and prints?

Yes, both are for sale, along with other products, in online gallery shops. All of the products I’ve selected are timeless in nature and carefully hand-crafted by talented artisans within the United States.

Misc.

What kind of gear do you work with?
I bring my cameras, a few lenses, and two on-camera flashes, packing a bit lighter for non-wedding projects.

Do you have liability insurance?
Of course. Happy to submit proof to any particular venue or inquiring party.

What if we have bad weather?
We will absolutely make the most of what we’re given and find inspiration in the story of your day, even if it’s raining. It’s all about embrace the story in all of its authenticity, precipitation included. There’s so much potential for creativity and inspiration, especially when we’re pushed outside of the comfort zone of predictability, so we’ll work together to create something incredibly special.
