Should You Have a First Look?

PROS

  • You get to have your own special, uninterrupted moment together to see each other for the first time on your wedding day.

  • Seeing each other before the ceremony helps to calm nerves before the rest of the day continues. So many couples have said that once they were together, the wedding day jitters disappeared.

  • You have the chance to spend more time together on your wedding day overall, because we photograph the First Look a couple hours prior to the ceremony.

  • We typically get all of your portraits done before the ceremony, meaning all bridal party and family portraits are photographed before everything really kicks off. Bridal Party members and families like this too because their “photo obligations” are done and they can go grab a drink and mingle after the ceremony an not have to worry about being anywhere else for pictures.

  • You get to go to Cocktail Hour! We’ll take about 10 minutes of “Mr. & Mrs. portraits” after the ceremony but then you can grab a drink and join your guests!

  • If the wedding takes place during the cooler months where the sun goes down earlier, we’ll be able to make use of natural sunlight for portraits by capturing them earlier in the day, rather than needing to use flash if it’s gotten dark.

CONS

  • It breaks tradition of waiting to see each other until the “aisle moment”.

  • Family and Bridal Party members have to be ready and present earlier than usual in order to photograph all of the portraits ahead of time.
