Introductions
This is a fun way to get the party started, but Intros can also be incredibly awkward with disorganized. But there are ways to make this fun warm welcome flow smoothly…
TIPS
Review the pronunciation of everyone’s names with your DJ or band if you’re choosing to have your bridal party announced in. I can’t tell you how many times names have been awkwardly mispronounced in front of everyone, including the couple’s names, and everyone is staring at the DJ thinking, you had one job….
If possible, design the Reception space with a distinct path or aisle from the entrance to the center of the dance floor. When Bridal Party members have to weave in and out of tables and around obstacles, it alters the emotion of the moment. This also helps make for a better photo op as well.
It’s much more organic when the same song plays for the whole bridal party with maybe a different song for the two of you. If you’d like a different song for each pair of your Bridal Party who enters the Reception, make sure your DJ can flow the music together in a cool way without it feeling weird and choppy.
Make sure everyone knows where they’re going once they walk in. If they’re going to line up, it’s a good idea to have them stand in front of the DJ’s table so that your friends and family are the in the frame rather than him and his speaker setup. This is a good idea especially if you’re planning on going right into your first dance after being introduced. If you prefer to have your Bridal Party go right to their table after walking in, make sure they know where their table is so they aren’t walking around aimlessly after they’re introduced.
Time Allotment: 5-8 minutes
