The Moments In Between
It’s easy to forget all of the little things that happen over the course of the wedding day that could cause a hold-up in the timeline. When constructing the schedule for the day, we have to keep in mind the following and be sure to account for a few extra minutes so the day doesn’t fall behind early on.
Waiting for the elevator
Forgetting something up in the hotel room
Hair & Makeup touch-ups
Buttoning up the back of the gown’s many buttons
Unforeseen happenings like keys locked in car, someone gets sick, etc.
Things I’ve Seen…
Groom and his mother locked in a broken down/stuck elevator for about 45 minutes just before the First Look
Limo had to pull over because a Bridesmaid got carsick
Florist thought the wedding was the following day, so we had to wait for her to deliver the flowers just before the ceremony, which ended up being delayed about 35 minutes
Bridal Party decided to take a detour on the way to the reception from the ceremony space and take a photo at a special pizza place they all went to in college, which is adorable and awesome, but by the time they arrived to the reception space, the sun had almost gone down completely and the Bride and Groom had hardly any natural sunlight left for outdoor portraits in an absolutely gorgeous location. We also had no idea where they were because they didn’t let us know so the coordinator assumed the Limo driver had abducted our Bridal Party, or was potentially in an accident. It’s good to communicate with your planner or me so that we know what’s going on. :)
Veil got caught on something sharp, had rips all throughout it’s layers and had to be sewn together
Groomsmen got sick and passed out from heat
Family members not present at the specific location when we’re photographing group photos. We usually try to find them while moving forward with taking photos without them as best we can and if they come back, we’ll add them into a shot or two if possible and time allows.
This is your day and obviously it’s not all about the timeline, but little things can slow the day down we just want to make sure things move along in a timely fashion so you can make the mos of your day!
Time Allotment: We always build in an hour’s worth of “bumper time” throughout the timeline.
