2022 Ladies Cookie Bake at Aunt Nina's

Every year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, my mom and I go to my Aunt Nina’s to bake cookies and talk… Usually my Aunt Bonnie is there also, and this year, my bff Mary joined us! It’s really just a reason to get together to welcome Christmas, share in a meal, and get into lots of enriching, lifegiving girl talk — aka an afternoon that feels like a little slice of heaven. :)

Mom made gingersnaps and AB came with these 7-layer dessert bars filled with pecans, chocolate, and coconut, and AN made her famous pecan dream cookies, a recipe that was her and mom’s grandmother’s. Mary made ginger cookies too, hers were pillowy and soft with a spicy kick! And I tried a new cookie recipe that featured some chocolate, pecans, and bourbon.

We always bring a little something for each other, along with a consumable contribution, and AN always has the lunch table set for each of us with a little bundle of Christmas surprises. :) Mary baked her family’s famous dinner rolls (from her great grandparent’s family restaurant!) which were so light, buttery and delicious, Mom made her cowboy caviar dip, Bonnie brought a swiss cheese and almond dip, and I made the salad. :) AN had three soups ready for us, along with some wine, coffee, and tea.

So grateful for these ladies in my life… They are like angels on earth to me. <3
