Kaitlin + Andrew : Intimate Backyard Wedding | Gaithersburg, Maryland

Kaitlin and Andrew worked so hard planning their perfect wedding day, set to take place on June 12th. When they had to reschedule their “big wedding” for the fall due to COVID, they decided to still move forward with an intimate ceremony and gathering at Andrew’s parents’ home on their original wedding date!

Every detail was brought together so well, from the beautifully crafted Chuppah (made by Kaitlin’s father) with twinkle lights glowing behind it, to their time-capsule box to open together in five years, down to the special cocktail inspired by their pup, Maisie.

The vibe was happy, relaxed, and fun as everyone got ready around the house before family and friends started to arrive. The girls were upstairs finishing up hair and makeup before it was time to get dressed and pass around gifts. Kaitlin had her grandmother’s ring made into a necklace for her sweet mom, which was such a special moment. We all got gifts (including me, which was SO thoughtful and such a sweet and unexpected surprise!), Kaitlin has such a big heart!

Her sister-in-law did her makeup, and her best friend Allison did her hair, from a YouTube video tutorial which blew me away. I could have sworn it was professionally done, she did such an amazing job!

Andrew and his brothers got ready downstairs. He opened his gift from Kaitlin, socks with Maisie’s face on them which was so cute, a pocket-knife to be used for (beer can) shotguns only :), and a pair of AllBirds tennis shoes (which, if you haven’t tried a pair, you should - they’re great!). Andrew is so kind and such a sweet guy, these two are always thinking of everyone else and are so very others-centered.. I felt like I was part of their big wonderful family right from the start!

Their ceremony took place out back on the patio. Kaitlin and her dad came from around the house as Andrew waited patiently to see his bride… Their ceremony was led beautifully by Allison, and was tender, personal, and special. They even had a laptop set up for family who weren’t able to be there. :)

Afterwards, several family members gave speeches and we took some group photos before heading to a nearby field for some portraits of the new Mr. and Mrs… :)

When we got back, it was time to eat! Their favorite local Greek restaurant called Athens Grill did the catering, and oh my goodness was it delicious… Everything was full of flavor and absolutely divine! All of their guests enjoyed it while mingling together, enjoying their Maisie Mule cocktails and hanging out, celebrating.

They topped the night off by a sweet dance together, and by cutting their cake! They used the cake knife from Kaitlin’s parents’ wedding. :)

I loved this piece of artwork hung in their living room…. Absolutely gorgeous!

I can’t wait to spend the day with Kaitlin and Andrew and their friends and family again in November (fingers crossed) while we celebrate with everyone that was unable to attend due to the group limitations of the pandemic. It’ll be so fun to see everyone again!

Best wishes to the new Mr. and Mrs. and what a blessing it was to be part of such a special day!
