When Rhi and Matt were no longer able to host their wedding at Cosima in Baltimore, they got together with their families and creatively made changes to the structure of their day. They chose to rent a big white tent and host their closest friends and family at Rhiannon’s mom’s beautiful country home, just north of the city. It was such a sweet, intimate, special day with the closeness of special relationships, and the joy of sweet celebration.
Rhi was absolutely radiant with her dark natural curls and stunning smile. I loved her robe and gown, which had a dusty grey undertone like I’d never seen before. Her gown (from Betsy Robinson’s Bridal) looked like a timeless antique with intricate beading and and effortlessly flowing style.
Matt and his friends got ready nearby at his mom’s house, with the happiest yellow walls. I loved hanging out and capturing their laughter and joking as they tied their ties and clipped their clips. :) Such a fun, sweet group of people!
Rhiannan’s mom’s home was so beautiful.. A cozy farmhouse tucked between old trees full of stories, with a yard of rolling hills, a beautiful garden with a lily pad pond, and the perfect space for their big white tent. When I peeked around inside, each corner of the house was decorated with natural-inspired art and trinkets that seemed to celebrate a deep love for the beauty of the outdoors.
Matt was met by his bride on the front porch for a few minutes together before the day began… We spent time taking a few portraits before guests began to arrive in time for the ceremony.
A funny note: Halfway through portraits, one of Rhi’s bridesmaids came out saying she’d been given the wrong bouquet, that what she was holding was actually for the ceremony decor, hehe, oops! So some of her pics are with one bouquet, and others were taken with the “right” one. :) Ah well!
Matt’s father officiated, which added a special personal touch to the message. They live-streamed it too, for those who were not able to come. Together, they’d curated their promises to each other from several versions of classic vow writings, creating a beautiful rendition of their own that I had never heard before. It was tender and loving, unique and special, and sounded to me like precious song lyrics said to one another in love. :)
After the ceremony, the party began! One of my favorite aspects of their reception was the Kindred Spirits Mobile Bar from Kent Island, who arrived to serve everyone the most lovely libations for the evening. The signature cocktail entitled “White Wedding” was featured with hand-painted flower petals, done by Marissa, the owner herself. They were so dainty and beautiful!
The evening continued with a special speech by Rhi’s dad, followed by messages from their best man and maid of honor. Dinner and a little dancing continued on through the night which was so fun to watch as everyone just let loose and had fun together as the sun went down and the music carried on… (Thanks to Wiley and Andrew of Watershed Entertainment - they’re so great!)
Special dances and strawberry cheesecake (as well as a delicious layered cake) topped off the night! Rhi and Matt graciously thanked each and every guest for coming together to celebrate with them and making the day so special. We’re all looking forward to their big anniversary party next year at Cosima, where this day was initially supposed to take place. But I think it’s great that they will be able to have the best of both!
Cheers to the new Mr. and Mrs… I loved being part of this special day!
